Activity 3.3.3.1 Current Events in Plastic Pollution

Six-Point Critical Analysis of Current Event   My blog posting is available online at: https://mikaenvironmentalknowledge.blogspot.com   1. Exploratory                              Probe basic facts and knowledge found in the readings. ( What research evidence supports _________?   Type up several facts and basic knowledge from the readings. Relate this to what you find in other resources, prior activities for stronger scores.) ) Plastic Pollution is a crisis in many areas of the world, but even more visible in developing Asian and African nations. Plastic pollution is so bad, there were efforts for a global treaty by the United Nations.      2. Diagnostic                            ...

Activity 3.3.3 – My Plastic Use

Image
Attached above is a collage of all the plastic i used in one day. Originally  i was only going to take picture of plastic that i digest or any plastic that would come near my mouth/nose, however after much research i had realized that Microplastics can show up in our blood stream in many different ways. Plastic is everywhere and is used in almost anything we touch in our every day lives. You can see in these items, some of them are not used near the mouth/nose but are handled almost everyday in some way, shape or form. No matter if it's purposely  consumed or not, it still unintentionally ends up in our blood stream. References: Dudas, S. (2018).  Microplastics are everywhere  [Video]. Activity 3.2.3 – Alternative Energy - Solar Energy

A. What is alternative energy? Alternative energy consists of renewable energies. Alternative energy can be derived from water, solar and biomass. It does not come from fossil fuels and it is not the main energy source for industrialized countries. (2018, Bennett D) B. Arguments for alternative energy  According to ProCon.org, Alternate energy can have higher upfront costs and also require back up energies since the sun and wind are intermittent sources of energy. There is also geographic limitations and environmental factors that can prevent the build and use of alternative energy. (2020, ProCon) C.   Solar Energy is one of the most important renewable energy sources. The suns energy is clean and inexhaustible. That means day after day, year after year, the suns energy quantity will remain the same. We will always have access to this renewable resource. The sun and its light can be used anywhere on the planet, even the places with no infrastructure or connections such as rur...
